Sylvester Stauber, age 94, of Kewaunee passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1927 in Brussels, WI to Michael and Elsie (Oldenburg) Stauber.
He grew up on the family farm in Brussels and worked at the shipyard in Sturgeon Bay and at Algoma Plywood. He married Arlene Conard on June 6, 1953. Together they owned and operated Fairland Service Station until the early 1960’s. Then they moved to Alaska, WI and established Stauber Farms. Over the years, he formed many friendships with area farmers and neighbors. For many of his farming years he enjoyed custom planting and harvesting, selling seed, and all of the visiting that went along with it. Everyone that knew him will remember him for his many stories. He also enjoyed ice fishing with his friends and visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sylvester continued to farm for many years and when he could no longer farm himself, he still enjoyed the farm through his family, checking what they were doing every day. It was in his blood to the end.
