Ruth Ann (Rankin) Meister

Ruth Ann Meister, 79, Algoma. Passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Ruth was born on June 17, 1941 to the late Charles and Lucy (Jauquet) Rankin. She married Gilbert Meister on June 13, 1959 at St. Mary’s in Algoma. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2019. Ruth was an at-home child care worker. She enjoyed the family gatherings, summer trout boils, cooking, spending time with her brothers and sisters and being a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

Ruth is survived by her son, Alan (Wendy) Meister; grandchildren, Spencer (fiancé Amy) and her children, Justine, Hailey, Kaydance and Jordyn, Ashley (Eric) Huss, Brittany Meister (friend Bryan), Alex Meister (fiancé Ashley); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Avery, and Connor Huss; brother-in-law, Ralph Zimmer; as well as by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; son, Dean Meister; her parents, Charles and Lucy Rankin; brothers and sisters, Ester Rankin, Harold (Marion) Rankin, Marie (Elmond) Herison, Helen (Roy) Massart; father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Meister; sisters-in-law, Carol Fisher and Ann Zimmer; as well as by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Algoma from 10-11 am on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with Fr. Alvan Amadi officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and facemasks are required to be worn.
