Rose A. Paska

Rose A. Paska, age 100, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.  She was born on January 1, 1909, to the late George and Bessie (Sidlo) Haszel of West Kewaunee. On May 23,1936, she married Henry Paska. After 64 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on August 18, 2000. Rose was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, a member of the Rosary Society, and a Charter Member of the Daughters of Isabella. She and Henry were members of the Historical Society and volunteers at the Kewaunee Jail Museum. They belonged to the Golden Tones Singers, and the Jolly Czechs group for many years. Rose's hobbies included gardening, especially her flowers, embroidering, and crocheting. She was an avid reader and frequent patron of the Kewaunee Library. She was admired for her courage, strength, and gentle wisdom, and will be greatly missed by her family. Survivors included one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carol Paska of Wausau. three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Dick Hoffinann, DePere, Jan and Brian Martell, Fence, and Nancy and Gary Lemerond, Green Bay. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many neices and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers also survive: Ethel Parker, Alexandria, Va., Ellen Gratz, Beaver Dam, George Haszel, Oshkosh, and Orville Haszel, Waupaca. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Bessie Hershfield, and Mildred Hinish of Kewaunee, and Elsie Conard, Green Bay, and one brother, Edward Haszel, Kewaunee.

Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. At the funeral home. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Friday until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. At Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee with Fr. William Swichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
