Rita M. VanDenBerg

Rita  VanDenBerg, age 91 of Kewaunee died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Atrium Acute Care Center of Kewaunee, where she resided for the last fourteen years.  She was born Magdelen Rita in Marinette, WI on January 16, 1927 to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Stoveken) VanDenBerg. She moved to Kewaunee with her family in 1934.

Rita was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish and the Rosary Society and attended Holy Rosary School.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting mittens, and taking  trips with her family.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.  Rita loved playing the piano.  She was loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include her twin sister: Rose Duescher, Kewaunee; three sisters: Angela Paul, Fridley, MN; Mercedes VanDenBerg, San Francisco, CA; Helen (Robert) DeGrave, Green Bay; one brother: Jerome VanDenBerg, Kaukauna; one sister-in-law: Pat VanDenBerg, Madison, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by one sister: Teresa (Clem) Derenne; four brothers: Loren; Allan (Betty); Jim and Dennis; two brothers-in-law: Richard Duescher and Lloyd Paul.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 23 until the time of services at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Dennis Drury.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the Atrium of Kewaunee and Unity Hospice, Dr. Allan Olson and Dr. Tom Zenner, Deacon Chuck and everyone that lovingly cared for and supported Rita over the years.

Rita, I love you, thanks for being a wonderful Twin to me.  Rose.
