Raymond E. Lawrence, 77, Algoma, passed away on February 28, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1947, in Sturgeon Bay to the late Herbert and Ethel (Serrahn) Lawrence. He married the love of his life, Karen Soquet on November 15, 1975. After graduating from high school, Ray joined the U.S. Army where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was very proud and honored to serve his country. After his service to our country, he worked for the Algoma Hardwoods. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, was active at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma, and loved spending time with his family.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 48+ years, Karen; step-daughter, Kelly (Todd) Fleischman; grandchildren, Barbara (Donnie) Showers, Kayla (Bert) Ambrose, Matt (Taylor) Fleischman; 13 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Della Soquet; brother-in-law, Lyle (special friend Sarah Erickson) Soquet; sister-in-law, Linda (Randy) Kaus; as well as by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ethel Lawrence; daughter. Tammy Sullivan; brothers-in-law, Ken Soquet, and Randy Soquet.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 9:00-11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church - Algoma, with a Funeral Service taking place at 11:00 am with Pastor Joel McKenney officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery with full military rites. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Algoma is assisting the family with arrangements.
