Patrick D. Hanrahan, 76, Kewaunee, went home to be with our Lord on August 22, 2017. He was born June 27, 1941 in Kewaunee, WI, the only child of Ralph and Viola (Thibaudeau) Hanrahan.
Pat was the beloved husband of Mary (Dillenburg) Hanrahan for 53 years. His love will live on forever in the hearts of his four children and ten grandchildren; Kathy(Dave) Miller, Matt, Courtney, and Travis, Kewaunee, WI; Mike(Kim) Hanrahan, Stephanie (Chase) Martini, Mikayla, and Shane, Williamsburg, VA: Dan(Shawn) Hanrahan, Cam, Max and Lexie, Kewaunee, WI and Scott (Erin) Hanrahan, Teddy, Edina, MN. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Msgr. James Dillenburg, Ann (Richard) Gabriel, Nancy (James) DuBois, and Mark (Sue) Dillenburg, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, special aunt Catherine Hanrahan and his mother and father in law, Edward and Marie Dillenburg.
Pat attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, graduated from Kewaunee High School and completed Farm Short Course at UW-Madison. After finishing his schooling he served in the US Army from 1962-1968. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish his entire life. Following in his father's footsteps he ran the family farm and dairy business. Pat touched the lives of many as a Kewaunee Volunteer Fireman for 27 years, a member of the Kewaunee Jaycees, and as a popular school bus driver for over 50 years.
In 2016 Pat and Mary were honored by the Kewaunee Rotary as "Persons of the Year" due to Pat's role in establishing the Kewaunee Community Garden. Pat will always be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, animals, polka music, and his willingness to help others.
Visitation for Pat will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4-8pm at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee with a parish prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, Kewaunee, WI on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 9:30 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Msgr. James Dillenburg officiating, assisted by Deacon Chuck Agnew. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School.
