Myra Irene (Ollmann) Sisel

August 15, 1926 — February 18, 2018

MYRA SISEL, 91, ALGOMA

Myra Irene Sisel , formerly of Kewaunee, passed away Sunday February 18, 2018 at Algoma Long Term Care where she resided the last four years.  Myra was born a twin baby to the late Albert and Selma (Kudick) Ollmann in Montpelier Township on August 15, 1926.  Myra was baptized in the Lutheran Faith at St Paul’s Lutheran, Montpelier, and was later confirmed into the Lutheran Faith on May 12, 1940.  She attended High Bluff school, walking there each day with her sisters.  Myra married Arthur Sisel at St Paul’s on April 23, 1949.  They shared 28 years of marriage and had 7 children.  Art preceded her in death in 1977.

As a child, she favored doing farm chores with her dad instead of domestic chores, despite her small stature.  She loved a good pot of coffee, (many of them, actually), loved music and dancing, and played the Accordion and piano by ear, but never learned to read notes.  In her younger years, she was often heard singing and yodeling, an art of long past.

After her husband’s passing, she worked at Leyse Aluminum in Kewaunee, now Vollrath, until her retirement. She never missed a day of work.  She never learned to drive, which is in part why she lived to be 91.  Mom did not live a life enshrouded with wealth and material possessions, but did the best with what she had.  She tried to see the good in people, even of those who took advantage of her kindness.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cathy Wojtesky, Luxemburg; Ron (LouAnn) Sisel, Green Bay;  Mark (Erika) Sisel, Kewaunee;  Jim  Sisel, Kewaunee;  Jerry (Cindy) Sisel, Green Bay, and Carol (Ron) Wautlet, Casco.  She is further survived by 4 Grandchildren, 7 Step-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, 15 Step-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, infant son Johnny, two grandsons, Rich Wojtesky and Robby Rohr, her twin brother Merlin in infancy, four sisters and three brothers in law, Virginia (Leo ) Krohn, Marcella (Gerhardt) Pilgrim, Verna (Don) Sell, and Ruth Ollmann.  Also preceded in death by a brother- in- law and sister- in- law, Clarence and Ruby Sisel; a daughter- in- law, Mary (Sue ) Sisel and two nephews, Carl (Chuck) Krohn and David Pilgrim.

Friends may call at Grace Lutheran Church from 9:00-11:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2018. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am with Rev. Gary B. Stangland officiating.  Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Kewaunee. Online condolence messages may be shared on the tribute wall.

Special thanks to Jean Doell for all of her help with mom over the years, and also to Unity Hospice, and to Dr. Anderson and staff at the Algoma Long Term Care for their exceptional care of Mom for the past 4 years.
