Mildred Marie (Brezinski) Karl, age 88, of Kewaunee passed away at Odd Fellow Nursing Home on Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born March 3, 1930 in the Town of West Kewaunee to the late William and Mary (Michalek) Brezinski.
Mildred married Edwin J. Karl on February 12, 1953 at St. Hedwig’s Church in East Krok. Millie’s working years included the Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator, Mirro Aluminum Company, Krause Manufacturing, Novak Realty as a real estate agent and finished her working career at Cherney Microbiological Services, Ltd. where she was the office manager and bookkeeper for eleven years.
Millie, or Breezy as many lovingly called her, truly enjoyed her family and entertaining friends, which ran in the Brezinski family. Edwin and Millie spent many wonderful years enjoying their cottage in Sugar Camp, WI with family and friends. Many people have wonderful memories of time spent at the “blue cabin”. Millie will be deeply missed by everyone that she knew.
Survivors include her four daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Richard Servais of Elkhart Lake, Karen and Jim Welhouse of Green Bay, Debbie and Marvin Cherney of Kewaunee, and Denise and Dan DuFresne of Kewaunee. Grandchildren: Chris Servais and Allison Liegler, David and Meghan Servais, Tricia and Kevin Johnson, Aaron Welhouse, Alison and Lars Wild, Amanda and Mark Matczynski, Joseph Cherney, Mitchell DuFresne and his special friend Jennifer, and Cassie DuFresne. Great grandchildren: Cara, Ellie, and Katie Johnson, Hailee and Grant Liegler, Ester and Morrison Servais, Sophia and Samuel Matczynski and Kayla, Cooper and Tucker DuFresne. Sisters-in-law: Evelyn Albrecht and Diane Brezinski brother-in-law: Dana Karl, many nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends, including her special friend Sherry Rady, at Odd Fellow Nursing Home. Millie was preceded in death by Edwin J as she called him, her parents Bill and Mary Brezinski, her beloved brother Jim Brezinski, two grandchildren, John Paul and Mary Marie Cherney, one great-grandchild, Seraphia Mary Matczynski, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Friends may call at Buchanan Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis Street, Kewaunee, WI after 4:00pm Friday, November 9th, 2018. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00pm. On Saturday, November 10th, visitation will begin at 9:30am at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in East Krok, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am with Father Dennis Drury officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Brad Wozney, her very special caregiver Tina Schmidt, Odd Fellow Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, and the staff of Unity Hospice for their special care and attention in taking care of our Mom.
