Mary E. Stewart

November 1, 1953 — October 6, 2024

Algoma

Mary Elizabeth (Beaudet) Stewart passed away on Sunday, October 6th at Waterfall Health in Algoma, WI.

She was born on the 1st of November, 1953 in New Jersey as the third child and only daughter of Arthur and Charlotte (McGann) Beaudet. She and her four brothers (Art, Al, John, and Ed) spent their childhood in New Jersey and Texas.

Mary moved to Ashland, Wisconsin to attend college and while she was there she met her husband Keith Stewart Jr who she was married to for 27 years. Together they raised their children in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Mary moved to Delavan, Wisconsin in 2005 with her partner Steve LaBue, and they lived there for over a decade before moving to Algoma.

Her longtime dream of owning a quilting store was realized when she opened The Quilted Fish in Algoma, on Navarino Street on the 5th of December 2016.

She was a kind and empathetic person, a loving mother, partner and friend with a joyful disposition. She was quick to laugh and was a very generous person who was always ready to help those in need. Mary made countless quilts for others, including friends, veterans, and new parents. She often said "If you're wrapped in one of my quilts you're wrapped in my love." Even when she was ill and receiving chemotherapy for her cancer she still had others in mind and created baby quilts for some of the nurses in the infusion center.

Surviving are her four children Keith III (Chicago, IL), Sean (Peoria, IL), Kim (Chicago, IL), Ross (Chicago, IL), and her longtime partner, Steve (Algoma, WI).

A Celebration of Life to honor Mary will be held at a later date. Kinnard Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
