Marie D. (Hardtke) Gaedtke, 83, of Kewaunee, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023, at Aurora Hospital, surrounded by her family. Marie was born in the town of Carlton, on September 15, 1939, to the late Melvin and Eleanor (Kittell) Hardtke. Marie married Norbert Gaedtke on October 18, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2015. Marie enjoyed gambling, polka dancing, crocheting, puzzles, spending time in Branson, and African violets. She most enjoyed traveling, having been to 48 of the 50 states, as well as Europe.
She is survived by her two children, Glenda Fiala, Kewaunee, and Lynn (Lora) Gaedtke, Luxemburg; grandchildren, Amber (Tim) Doperalski, Jamie (Brandon) Kinjerski, Zachary Gaedtke, Brianna Gaedtke, Samantha (special friend Cole Lange) Musil, Michelle (Jeremiah) Hawley, and Elaine (special friend Andrew Kelly) Musil; great-grandchildren, Sarah Doperalski, Allison Kinjerski, Josephine Kinjerski, Danica Musil, Lillith Hawley, Miah Hawley, and Freya Hawley; brothers Bill (Doris) Hardtke, Dave (Cindy) Hardtke; sister Arlene Hardtke; sister-in-law Diane Hardtke. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law Tony Fiala; brothers Arnold Hardtke, Robert Hardtke and Ray Hardtke; brother-in-law Gerhardt (Delores) Gaedtke; sisters-in-laws Gladys (Orland) Fulp, Vernis (Elton) Karnopp, and Bernice (Harold) Beilke; as well as nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Kewaunee, 1425 Ellis St., from 4-8 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023. Prayer service to follow at 8pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 9-11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee. Funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating.
