Lorraine M. Massart , 94, of Algoma passed away peacefully at Algoma Long Term Care Unit on August 19, 2016. She was born February 9, 1922 to the late William and Desire (DeVillers) Deprey. On June 11, 1947 Lorraine married Edwin Massart at St. Peter Catholic Church, Lincoln. He preceded her in death February 9, 2005. She worked at Plumbers Woodwork until the time of her marriage; then moved to a farm in Forestville for 22 years. In 1969 Lorraine moved to Algoma where she remained until the time of her death. She enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and making pies, especially rhubarb and apple. She loved to spend time with her family and babysitting her grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her two children Angela (Ken) Neuzil , Rio Creek, and Dale Massart, Algoma; three grandchildren Daniel K. Neuzil, Kelly Miller, and Jeremy Massart; one great-grandchild Kylie Miller; and one sister-in-law Malionie Deprey. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, parents, three brothers and sisters-in-law Joe (Vernice) Deprey, Alvin (Virginia) Deprey, and Orville Deprey.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at St Mary Catholic Church, Algoma from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Stryker officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Bay Settlement. Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home of Algoma is assisting the family.
