LeRoy M. Cherney, 81, of Denmark, died on Thurday, August 26, 2021, after a brief illness at Aurora Hospital, Green Bay, WI with his family at his side.
He was born on December 25, 1939 to the late Matthew and Dorothy (Kugel) Cherney. He was a lifetime resident of the Denmark area. LeRoy married Joyce Duckart on July 25, 1964, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tisch Mills, Wis.
LeRoy attended Kewaunee High School. After school he worked at Wagner Implement, Bulk Transport, DeCleene Trucking Repair and Belinski Excavating.
LeRoy, Joyce and Duane were noted for the fish boils they did at Cedar Ridge Restaurant for many years in Maribel, they were also very busy doing pig roasts for many people. To compliment the pig roast, they knew how to put together a great meal for the people sometimes serving over 150 people. LeRoy had the opportunity to work with Jim Rabas, Sr. and his steam engine for the small town parades and festivals that were in the area.
He was a member of St James Church, Cooperstown.
Survivors include two sons, Duane and Bruce, both of Denmark. He is also survived by one brother, Alvin Cherney, Stangelville, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edwin (Donna) Duckart, Maribel, two sisters-inlaw, Darlene Parma, Tisch Mills and Carol Herold, Appleton, two Half-Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald (Joan) Duckart, Richard (Donna) Duckart, both of Denmark and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his parents, one brother and two sisters-in-law, Leonard and Marilyn Cherney and Joan Cherney, Joyce's sisters and brothers-in-law, LaVerne (Harvey) Jorgensen, Lorraine (Sylvester) Parma and Wayne Herold.
Friends may call at St James Catholic Church Cooperstown, 18228 Co. Rd. R, Denmark, WI on Tuesday, September 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Santy officiating.
