Leonard Cherney

Leonard Cherney, age 77, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 after a 1-month battle with cancer.
Leonard was born on January 21, 1944 to Matt and Dorothy (Kugel) Cherney of Stangleville. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1962 and served in the US Army. When he returned, he married Marilyn De Cramer of Kewaunee on November 6, 1965. They lived briefly in Two Rivers, WI and then moved to their current neighborhood in 1968. Leonard retired from Schneider Transportation in Green Bay as a mechanic in 2005. After retirement, he spent time in his shop & garden.

Leonard is survived by his children Janelle Cherney (Mishicot), Cheryl Finnel (Mishicot) and Brad Cherneyand his wife Paula (Curran). He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jacob (Idaho) and Molly Finnel (Mishicot) whom he enjoyed so much, his Godchildren, Debbie Cumming (Dave) of De Pere, Mary (Kerscher) Hrdina (Racine), Timmy Cherney (Melissa) of Stangleville and Bruce Cherney of Curran, his two brothers, Alvin Cherney (Stangleville) and LeRoy Cherney (Curran), his brother-in-law and sister-in law Bill and Jan DeCramer (Sturgeon Bay) and his nieces and nephews; Steven (Kris) Cherney (Stangleville), Robert (Sue) Cherney (Mishicot), Susie Brosig (De Pere), Duane Cherney (Curran), Mark (Karla) DeCramer (Germantown, WI) and Mike (Cathie) De Cramer (Charlotte, NC).

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn in 2018, his parents, his wife’s parents, an infant sister-in-law, and his two sisters-in-law, Joan Cherney and Joyce Cherney.

The visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 beginning at 9:30 am at St Mary’s Parish in Tisch Mills with Father Christian Raj officiating. Mass will be at 11:00 am. A short burial service with military honors will follow.
