Leonard T. Bertrand, age 83 of Kewaunee passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Bellin Hospital with his family at his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born in Kewaunee County on August 4, 1937 to the late Charles H. & Lucy (Bouchonville) Bertrand. On July 13, 1957 he married Betty Jane (Kraynik) she preceded him in death in 1958. He then met Ruth Kulhanek and they were married January 16, 1960 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Henrysville. In his early years he enjoyed bowling, playing darts, woodworking, being outside cutting lawn or riding on his gator & deer hunting with his family. They also enjoyed many trips together. Leonard worked for Svoboda Industries then for Hamiltons in Two Rivers for 45 years before retiring in 2002. Survived by wife Ruth of 61 years, Sons Jim (Mary), Jerry (Terri), Mike (Tina), Mark (special friend Kathy Pinkert), Gary (Kim) all of Kewaunee. Grandchildren Justin (special friend Andrea Sevey), Jayme (special friend Paige Bellin), Jason (Tina), Eric (Samantha), Brittany (special friend Nick “Slick” Wegner), Amber (Dave) McGraw, Brianna (special friend James Kay), Tyler (fiancee Hayley Doell), Joshua (special friend Erin Duescher). Great Grandchildren Avery, Braxten, Jakayla, Evelynn, Brooklyn, Daytona, Brayden, Paige, Harley & Jackson. Step Grandchildren Christian, Jayce, Bella, Blake, David, Madalyn & Maiya. Sister-in-law & Brother-in-laws Joanne Bertrand, Merle (Pat) Kulhanek, Donald (Cindy) Shimon along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren & friends. Proceded in death by brothers Linus (Donna) & Charles Bertrand, sister Geraldine (Joe) Tadisch. Father-in-law & Mother-in-law Elmer (Clara) Kulhanek, Step Mother-in-law Esther (Polasik) Kulhanek. Step brothers Arnold (Mayme), Gordon, & Leslie Bertrand. Step- sisters Arletta (Joe) Urban, Eva (Wendell) Unsinn & Rita Bertrand.
The family would like to thank 4th floor Medical, 8th floor & Home Care staff at Bellin, Divita Kidney Dialysis Center Riverside Dr., Kewaunee Rescue, Dr. Bede, Dr. Fuchs, & Katie Hampton. Ruth would especially like to send a “special Thank You” to her family for all the help & support threw this difficult time.
The family will greet family & friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee from 12- 3 p.m. on Saturday April 24, 2021. Service will be held at 3:00 with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating. Burial to follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cementry in Henrysville.
