James N. Vandertie, 72, passed away on July 10, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on December 15, 1951, to the late Norbert and Kathleen (Buhr) Vandertie.
Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army. He worked at Bay Ship in Sturgeon Bay for a number of years and then operated Vandertie Oil in Algoma with his father, Norbert.
Jim loved working on vehicles and restoring tractors, especially International Harvesters and Farmall, and the tractors always had to be red. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and having a Miller High Life while spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Sandy (Brian) Monfils, Allen (Krystal) Vandertie, and Kevin (Jean) Vandertie; grandchildren, Cassidy, Josh, Austin, Alexandria, and Brooklyn; great grandchild, Mckinley; and his sister, Mary Ross.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Kathleen Vandertie; and a brother, Kenneth Vandertie.
