James M. Abrahamson

James M. Abrahamson, 91, Hobart, passed away on January 4, 2024. He was born December 5, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Howard and Mildred (Mattson) Abrahamson. He graduated high school from Humboldt High School in St. Paul. He then attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Air Force based in El Paso, TX. In 1954 he married Rena Chesney and had 4 children in the ensuing years. He was an engineer at Red Wing Shoe Company and later worked in Racine Wisconsin. He eventually moved to Kewaunee where he and his second wife Jerri opened a Bed and Breakfast. He served as an Alderman for the city and was on the County planning commission. He volunteered for the Department of Aging Services. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, camping, and making sure his yard was looking good!

Jim is survived by his children, Pamela Haas, Janesville, WI, Jeffrey (Mary) Abrahamson, Boerne, TX, Christine (George) Ozbat, Mosinee, WI, David (Kathy) Abrahamson, Princeton, MN; grandchildren, Kelly (Tom) Haas, Kristin (Nick) Haas, Haley (Tom) Elmendorf, Lauren Abrahamson, Kenneth Abrahamson, Timothy Abrahamson, Derek Abrahamson, Mark Abrahamson, Kallie Abrahamson, Luke Abrahamson; step-children, Darcy (Merrill) McCoy, and Debbie (Bob) Jensen-Dehart.

He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine (Huggins) Abrahamson; parents, Howard and Mildred Abrahamson, and brother John Abrahamson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 10-11 am at Grace Lutheran Church. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Kinney officiating. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Kewaunee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.

 In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jim’s name.
