On the morning of March 11, 2022 God reached out His tender hand and gently pulled our mother, Irene Pekarek home with him and our dad. She was born February 11, 1937 in the Town of Carlton to the late William and Clara (Robinson) Chalupsky.
Irene graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1955. She met Dayton Pekarek at a local dance at Norman and married on November 12, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2013.
She loved growing a large garden, planting flowers, baking biscuits and kolaches on Saturday mornings, polka dancing, playing bingo, playing sheepshead and going to Let Me Be Frank productions with her close friend, Mary Skornicka. She always made sure she had lipstick on when she went out in public.
Survivors include six sons and five daughters-in-law: Duane and Veronica Pekarek, Kewaunee; Dean and Clare Pekarek, Mishicot; Darrell Pekarek, Casco; Darwin and Nancy Pekarek, Kewaunee; Darin and Margo Pekarek, Stevens Point; Delmar and Christine Pekarek, Kewaunee; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Debra and James Niemojuski, Kewaunee; Darlene and Timothy Mumper, Kewaunee; Dotsie Pekarek, Kewaunee; twenty-three grandchildren: Jeremy, Andrew, Jason, Michael, Leon, Krissy, Kathryn, Joseph, Adam, Jesse, Amber, Amanda, Sarah, Luke, Brian, Evan, Casey, Courtney, Chelsey, Bo, Paige, Austin, Bethany twenty-one great grandchildren: Logan, Landen, Jarek, Arianna, Axton, Kyler, Addison, Timmy, Calvin, Aubrey, Ayden, Maximus, Maverick, Mary, Macklin, Adeline, Bryden, Lexi, Westin, Ella, Cyril and one on the way. Also survived by two brothers-in law: Anton Kalcik Jr. and Dale (Corrine) Pekarek, a special cousin Pearl Schleis and her fur babies, Daisy and Paisley.
She was preceded in death by a grandson: Jonathan Pekarek, a daughter-in-law: Corinne Pekarek, sister: Marie Kalcik and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph and Irene Pekarek, a brother-in-law: Donald (Joan) Pekarek, two nephews: Donnie and David Pekarek.
Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. March 16 until the time of services at Holy Trinity Church, Casco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Daniel Schuster. Burial will follow the funeral lunch at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norman.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Sycamore Lodge Assisted Living for the care that they gave our mother during her brief stay there.
