Hubert Erwin (John) Pionke, Jr. , 79, Algoma, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015. He was born June 5, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Hubert and Estelle Pionke.
A graduate of Crane Technical High School and DeVry University for Electronics, John worked in sales/service in electronics for Varityper International for 25 years, as a TSA at Green Bay Airport for 10 years and for many years served as CSO in Algoma.
As a Chicago native, John enjoyed spending summers in Sturgeon Bay as a youth. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He married Betty Jane Hoellen in 1957. John served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He lived in Des Plaines Illinois, Davenport Iowa and then lived a large part of his life in Algoma. On April 21, 2007 he married Louise Paplham.
He is survived by his wife Louise; Daughter Kathi (Jerry) Steinhart, New Berlin; Son David Pionke partner to Leonard Sobczak, Milwaukee; Step-Daughter Stacy (Neal) Ledocq, Algoma, Step-Son Rob Paplham, Algoma, 5 Step-Grandchildren and 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren, Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lombardo, Florida, Georgeanna (Bruce) Clem, Florida, Linda (Lee) Erickson; Brothers-in-law, Jim (Arlene) Schneider and Dennis (Joanne) Schneider, Algoma; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jane, his parents Hubert and Estelle Pionke, Sister Lois Anderson.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Algoma on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 9:00-11:00, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00am with Father Ron Colombo officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma with full Military rites.
