Germaine Agatha (Holub) Blaha

Germaine Agatha (Holub) Blaha , Age 90, of Algoma WI passed away at Algoma Long Term Care on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed. She was born on February 5, 1930 to the late Matthew and Laura (Bero) Holub. She grew up in Rural Algoma and attended Silver Creek school, graduating on May 29, 1943, and Algoma High School, graduating on June 6, 1947. She married Ben Blaha on October 11, 1951 at St. Mary's in Algoma. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2007. Germaine worked as a bookkeeper for Vanzeeland Automotive, US Plywood in Algoma, and Peterson Builders, Inc. in Sturgeon Bay. During this time she raised and cared for her family and pursued college courses at UW Green Bay. She enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting, and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish Rosary Society and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children Elizabeth (Gerald) Peterson, Fish Creek, WI, Steven (Nancy Ausloos) Blaha, Green Lake, WI, Joan (Ron) Olson, Reno, NV, Timothy (Kathy) Blaha, Tomball, TX; grandchildren, Matthew Peterson, Nicholas Peterson, and Jill (Dan) Bosman, Jennifer and Robert Blaha, Jessie (Kenneth) Malcore, and Michelle (Dave) Bouche, Ashley, Kimberly and Gregory Blaha; great-grandchildren, Noelle Patza, Emma Peterson, and Michael Malcore, step-great-grandchildren, Mason and Hailey Bosman; and her sister Jeanette (Mahlon) Dier; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben; and her parents, Matthew and Laura Holub; brothers Richard and Edwin Ronsman.

A PRIVATE family visitation will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church Algoma. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 with Fr. Alvin Amadi officiating. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AlgomaCascoFunerals. A link will be provided on Wiesner & Massart website. Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced, and face masks must be worn. Online condolence messages may be shared at www.wiesnermassart.com. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers for their exemplary care, especially Algoma Hospital and Long Term Care Facility where she birthed all of her children and most of her lifetime medical care. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the Funeral Home.
