Geraldine (Gerry) Santroch, 99, Stevens Point, WI formerly of Kewaunee died on January 3, 2018. Gerry was born In Pilsen, WI on November 25, 1918 to Michael and Barbara (Steffel) Mahlik. After her father died in 1931, she was unable to attend high school in order to help her mother, brother Joe and sister Alice manage the family business and home farm in Pilsen. After managing the general store for 3 years, Gerry attended high school in Algoma, WI where she graduated in 1939. After graduation Gerry worked in the office of Morley-Murphy Company and later at Fort Howard Paper Company in Green Bay.
She married Milton Santroch of Kewaunee on October 12, 1946 and lived in Pilsen until 1952 when they moved to Kewaunee. She lived with him there until his death in 1982. She then retired to Green Bay and moved to Stevens Point in 2005.
Gerry was a long time member of Holy Rosary Parish, the Rosary Society , Catholic Order of Foresters, Kewaunee Area Memorial Hospital Auxillary and YWCA of Green Bay. She worked at St. Mary’s Kewaunee Area Memorial Hospital and later at the office of Dr. Francis Gilbert.
During her retirement years she loved to volunteer, garden, bargain shop, research and document family history, go for long walks outdoors, play cards with friends and spend time with her family.
Survivors include her son John (Monica) Santroch, Waukesha, daughter Jean (William) Sukow, Stevens Point, granddaughter Renee Sukow Stevens, Stevens Point, grandson Scott Sukow, Appleton, and great granddaughter Ada Stevens. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Larry (Pat) Mahlik, Judy (Mahlik) Kraynik, Kenneth (Vonnie) Kollross, Joan (Alvin) Peronto, Carol (Francis) Seidl, Mary (Laverne) Pribyl, Jacqueline (Bert) Provoznik, Dale (Nancy) Santroch and Wayne (Julie) Santroch. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mayme (Tom) Stodola, Clara (Joe) Skornicka, Lillian (Leo) O'Konski, Alice (Nick) Kollross, brother Joseph (Lucille) Mahlik, niece, Lorraine (Keith) Rockwell, nephews Chuck (Mary) O'Konski, Michael (Mary) Skornicka and Donald (Jean) Kollross,.
A celebration of life will be held at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee on Friday, February 2nd from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. with Dcn. Chuck Agnew officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery. Immediately after the service, a funeral lunch will be served at Holy Rosary Parish hall.
