Esther (Schemenkowski) Skubal

Esther Skubal, age 78 of Kewaunee died on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Bellin Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 25, 1943 in Kewaunee to the late Louis and Sophie (Malchak) Schemenkowski.

She graduated from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1961.  Esther married Vernon Skubal on October 12, 1963.

She worked at Hamilton Mfg. for ten years and started driving school bus for Dworak Bus Service in 1975 until retiring in 2021.

She was a lifelong member of St. Therese Parish, formerly St. Hedwig Church.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.   Besides being their biggest fans, she enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, knitting and crocheting.  But most of all, her favorite outdoor activity was cutting grass to ensure it was immaculate at home and also at the St. Hedwig cemetery.

Survivors include Vernon, her husband of fifty-eight years; a daughter and son-in-law: Kim and Dan Kassner; two grandchildren, Payton and Brandon Kassner.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Schemenkowski and a sister: Mildred (Ransom) Dolski; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Julius and Anna Skubal; two brothers-in-law: Lester (Lenore) Skubal and Alan (Adeline) Skubal.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22 at St. Hedwig Church, East Krok until the time of services.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Dennis Drury assisted by Christal Wavrunek, Pastoral Minister.  Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.
