Emily M. (Jeanquart) Dhuey

February 26, 1924 — August 15, 2021

Emily M. Dhuey, 97, passed away on August 15, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay.  She was born on February 26, 1924, to the late George and Josephine (Draize) Jeanquart.  On October 26, 1943, she married Harris Dhuey at St. Mary’s Parish in Namur and together they operated a dairy farm for forty years.  Emily celebrated her faith and shared her love for the church through many volunteer efforts.  She used her artistic ability to create numerous, hand-stitched quilts for her family and friends as well as those in need.  She enjoyed many quiet hours in her sewing room and with nature in her home and gardens.  One of the highlights of her life was the five European trips to reconnect with Belgian relatives, share the Walloon language and stories, and delight in their new-found friends’ return visits to Wisconsin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Katie (Chuck) Schmitt, Ann (Tom) Ouradnik; six grandchildren, Andrew (Elise) Opicka, Austin (Laura) Schmitt, Ross (Kala) Schmitt, Ashley (Justin) Cotler, Emily (John) Lawler, Zach (Katie) Ouradnik; great-grandchildren Vita, Aiden, Ava, Evan, Bentley, Grady, Ivy, Jaxson, Kaden, Sadie, Ty and Josephine; son-in-law Ron Opicka, sisters-in-law Madeline Jeanquart, Armene Delfosse, and Mary Ann Conard, as well as Godson Roger Kinnard, and many nieces and nephews.

Emily is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter (Linda Opicka); brothers George and Roy Jeanquart, sisters Celine Cumber, Marie Jadin, and Doris Kinnard; brothers-in-law John Cumber, Jim Jadin, Robert Delfosse, Norbert Kinnard, and Francis Conard; sister-in-law, Blanche Jeanquart.
