Ellen Marie (Prahl) Wells

Ellen Marie Wells, age 99, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Kewaunee died on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Beaver Dam Nursing Home.  Ellen was born on September 30, 1921 in Shawano, WI to the late Arnold and Alma (Treptow) Prahl.

She married Berton Wells on October 28, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier.  He preceded her in death February 16, 1996.

She was a lifelong active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Kewaunee.  Her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was very important to her, shown by the goodness and kindness she gave daily.

Ellen was a favorite aunt in the family,  she had a sense of adventure, traveling with her husband to forty-nine of the fifty states.  In later years she took many bus trips and even camped when she was eighty years old. She was always willing to learn and try new things. She loved doing puzzles, read books and was a gardener who grew the best tomatoes and lettuce ever. She was a women of wisdom, who gave solid advice with a sense of humor. Farming and weather folklore were very important to her and she had many one line phrases that were unique to her. She died at a ripe old age and satisfied with life.

Our Auntie Ellen will be dearly missed and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and great great great nieces and nephews and her cousins in Luxemburg.

Friends may call after 12 Noon Tuesday, February 9 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee until the time of services. Due to Covid restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.  The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating. The service will be live streamed on the parish website at www.immanuellutherankewaunee.org.
