Edward F. Plansky , 90, Milwaukee, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016. He was born November 28, 1925 in Norman, WI to the late Edward and Lillian (Marek) Plansky. Edward was married to his loving wife Otilla (Tillie) for 25 years. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2002.
He attended Slovan's two room school and Casco & Algoma High school. He was drafted into the US Navy during World War II. After the war was won, he was discharged and returned to Algoma. He worked in the area for about two years before moving to Milwaukee. He found work at Schlitz Brewery and after 35 years, he retired from Schlitz. During his time in Milwaukee, Edward was a member and Post Commander of the Schlitz Post American Legion as well as a member of the VFW club. Edward married Otilla Machalek and they enjoyed many years together. Edward enjoyed golfing, bowling, stoking and deer hunting with his friends. Edward & Otilla were members of St Florian Church in W Milwaukee.
Edward was an usher for many years. He also was a bartender for their fish fry & many social gatherings. Edward was always happy to help others and he did help many. Edward was also in the art of making sauerkraut and wine from many fruits. A period of time after Otilla passed away, Edward found another friend, Josephine Fays. Edward bowled against Josephine's husband and he bought Edward a drink. A week later he passed away. Edward met Josephine at the funeral. A friendship began and eventually included Edward as part of the family.
He is survived by his brothers Harvey (Joyce) Plansky and Donald (Shirley) Plansky. As well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his brothers Robert Plansky and Gilbert Plansky; his sister Shirley Dachlet.
