Donna M. Lohrey, 69, of Casco, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 25, 2018 with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 2, 1948, to the late William and Doris (Hoffmann) Havel. On September 12, 1970 she married Mark Lohrey. Donna retired from Algoma Hardwoods and throughout the years, worked at Plumbers Woodwork, Walter’s of Rio Creek, Tippy Canoe Bar & Grill and Selling Firewood. She enjoyed, working on the family farm, driving tractor with her mom & dad, spending time with family and friends, riding motorcycle, taking trips and cruises, and lawn cutting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially teaching them to ride horse. Donna had a special love for horses and horse related events including trail rides, rodeos, shows, parades, and spending time with Amish families in the area. Wherever she went she made new friends. She was a member of Frontier Farmers Horse Club and the Algoma Hunting and Fishing Club.
Donna is survived by her husband Mark; two sons William (Susan) Lohrey and Bryan (Bobbie) Lohrey; four grandchildren Evan and Aaron Lohrey and Jazmyn (special friend Brice Wiesman) and Josslyn Lohrey; two sisters Doris (Joe) Massart, Wendy (Don) Walter. Donna is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Rita) Lohrey, Daniel (Roxanne) Lohrey, and Rebecca (Bruce) Christie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Abby girl. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Doris Havel; nephews Jamie Walter and Joey Massart; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Ruby Lohrey.
Visitation will be held at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, 1617 Flora Ave., Algoma on Monday January 29, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Family Tribute will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday January 30, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Algoma from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joel McKenney officiating. Horse drawn procession to the Evergreen Cemetery for burial will follow. Online condolences may be shared on the tribute wall.
Special thanks to the staff at Unity Hospice and Home Instead for the comfort and care given to her throughout her final journey. The family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pastors McKenney and Moll as well as to all the family and friends who stopped in and offered their support.
