Donna Mae Flaherty, 76 years old, of Kewaunee, passed away on December 15, 2021. Donna was born on March 10, 1945, in Shawano, to Hilbert and Margaret (Bartelt) Bonnin. She graduated from Bonduel High School in 1963. Over her lifetime, Donna worked hard and held various roles, including an optometrist assistant, executive secretary at American Medical Security, and customer service manager at Blairex Laboratories Inc., of Columbus, IN. She married the love of her life, Richard Flaherty, on August 3, 1996, and they called Columbus, IN home, until they moved back to Wisconsin, just over eleven years ago.
Donna loved animals, especially cats. She provided food and shelter for lots of cats over the years and enjoyed feeding the birds, deer, and squirrels that visited her backyard. She was an avid gardener, baker and an excellent cook. She spent hours lovingly decorating cutout cookies for her family and friends, who looked forward to the treats every year.
More than anything Donna loved her family and cherished her roles as a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Survivors include her husband, Richard Flaherty; her children: Brian (Lisa) Haag, Curt Haag, Stephanie (John) Massart; her grandchildren: Cassie (Steele) Shriver, Nathan (Lina) Haag, Natalie Haag, Zach Haag, and Elijah Haag; her step-children: Julie Flaherty, Laurie Flaherty, Wanda Flaherty, and Sonya (Scott) Wiegand; her step-grandchildren: Samuel Flaherty Jelley, Caleb Flaherty Jelley, Brittany (Jerry Jr) Bense, Corryn (Bryce) Bentham, Natalie (Chad) Levanetz, Jessica Parfitt, Darla (Keith) Moneymaker, Erik Wiegand (Fiance Sarah Fadel): her step-great grandchildren: Jaxon Brooks , Raylee and Mayzee Bense, Leila Bentham, Elijah, Luke, and Alayna Levanetz, Raine, Olive,and Lincoln Parfitt, Garrett, Gavin, and Gideon Moneymaker; Donna’s brother Bob (Pam) Bonnin; nephew Todd (Julie) Bonnin, and niece and godchild Melissa (Rene) Vicera. She also is survived by many cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. James Dillenburg. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, Green Bay or Best Friends Pet Sanctuary in Utah.
