Dana Gruetzmacher, age 91 of Kewaunee died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Bellin Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1930 in Kewaunee to the late Louis and Elda (Mach) Gruetzmacher.
He graduated from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1948. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received the Silver Star.
Dana married Carolyn Zeitler on September 5, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2015.
Dana and Carolyn farmed on the home farm in the Town of Carlton all of their lives until retiring. They were lifelong members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Carlton. Dana was a long time member of Robinson American Legion Post #538 of Carlton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Bev Gruetzmacher, Kewaunee; two grandchildren: Nick (Haley) Gruetzmacher; Ashley Gruetzmacher; two great grandchildren: Kailey and Jensen Gruetzmacher. He was preceded in death by a son Todd Gruetzmacher.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18 at Buchanan Funeral Home until the time of services. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Schwark officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery
