Bruce M Vandervest , 66, of Luxemburg passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 7, 2016. He was born on May 15, 1949 to Marvin (Red) and Edith (Marek) Vandervest. He worked as an electrician at Paper Converting for over thirty years. Bruce loved the outdoors. He was a "true farm boy". He enjoyed going to rummage sales to find antiques and treasures, writing poems and articles, tending to his garden, and feeding and naming his pet squirrels. He also enjoyed going for walks and visiting with his neighbors and their pets, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.

Bruce is survived by his daughter Amy (Al) Wery; granddaughters Amanda, Amber, Ashley, and Abby Wery; mother Edie Vandervest and father Red Vandervest; siblings Mark (Nancy) Vandervest, Joan (Dennis) Captain, and Nancy Novotny (Bob); nieces, nephews, and many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Bruce Vandervest; grandparents Edward and Leone Marek, and Fred and Mary Vandervest; and the mother of his children Kay Michalik.

Visitation will be held at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home Algoma, 1617 Flora Ave. on Friday April 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Closing prayers for the Memorial Service will be at 7:45 p.m. Online condolences may be shared here .
