Adeline L. Batten, age 92 of Luxemburg was called home to the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2020. She was born July 27, 1928 in Phillips, WI to the late Lawrence and Louise (Mayer) Stibs.
Adeline met Alfred Batten at the tuberculosis sanitarium in Madison, WI while sharing the Lord’s word with him. They were married on July 5, 1952. Adeline and Alfred lived in Loves Park, IL where she was a mother and Sunday School teacher. The family moved to Luxemburg, WI in 1973 where they fulfilled their dream by owning and operating Batten’s True Value.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Montpelier, St. John Lutheran Church at Rankin and most recently at St. John Lutheran Church at Luxemburg. She loved her gardening and flower beds as well as being a devoted grandmother.
Survivors include her children: Gail (George) Petroff, Minneapolis, MN; James Batten (Deb Wolden), Claremont, MN; Ken (Terri) Batten, Luxemburg; Kathy (Jerry) Haegele, Algoma; seventeen grandchildren: Heather Peterson; Kristin Petroff; Dhanrajia Brooks; Bessie Batten; April Batten; Jeremy (Malorie) Batten; Ryan (Jorden) Batten; Christian Villers; Casey Villers; Clinton Villers; Camron (Heather) Villers; Courtney Villers; Cathylee (Marvin) Escobar; Gerrrianne (Matthew) Karels; Jerry Haegele; Beau (Kristina) Haegele; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on February 19, 2011, her parents, twin brother Addison Stibs, a sister Bertha Baker, a granddaughter, Michelle Peterson, a grandson, James Batten II, a great granddaughter, Izabella Salas.
Due to the Covid pandemic we would like to keep everybody safe. A private family funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 2 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Brewer officiating. The funeral service can be viewed live streamed on the St. John website. www.stjohnlux.com.
