"Blackie" Ronald Deprey Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 21, 2017 at the age of 74.
Blackie was born on the family farm on June 20, 1943 in Euren, WI to Joe and Delores Deprey. He attended Casco High School. Blackie married Lenore Burmeister on April 25, 1964 at St. Mary Parish in Algoma, WI. He had numerous jobs throughout his life, but was most known as a lifelong mechanic with a wrecker service and a custodian at Algoma High school for 22 years. Every job he held was an opportunity to make more friends.
Blackie was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous celebrating 31 years of sobriety on June 18, 2017. He was a generous, quick witted man who always had time for anyone in need. He adored his children and grandchildren and often shared stories about them. He took pride in delivering Meals on Wheels and bell ringing for the Salvation Army. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Blackie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lenore, his children Dawn and Thomas De Guelle, Hortonville, WI and Ronnie and Mary Jo Deprey, Luxemburg, WI. His grandchildren, Megan De Guelle (special friend, Michael), Luke De Guelle (special friend, Abigail), Tucker De Guelle, Ryan Deprey (fiancAC.e Katie), and Evan Deprey (special friend Kayla). His sisters, Karen (Kenny) Lumaye and Arletta (Gerald) Bertrand. His brothers-in-law Larry (Shirley) Burmeister, Richard (Mary Ann) Melotte, and Robert Melotte. He is further survived by his nieces and nephew who were like his own children, Brian Burmeister, Melissa Burmeister, Mandy and Keith Deschaine.
Blackie was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Renee Deprey, parents, Joe and Delores Deprey, sister, Vernalda Deprey, brother and sisters-in-law, Joe and Linda Burmeister, Cami Burmeister.
Visitation with the family will take place from 3-7 pm, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home - Algoma, 1617 Flora Ave., Algoma, WI. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm with Fr. Peter Stryker of St. Mary's Parish officiating. Entombment will be in the columbarium at St. Mary's Cemetery, Algoma, WI at a later date.
