Patricia Mae (Pettey) Prudhomme

March 17, 1938 — May 30, 2015

Patricia Mae Prudhomme , age 77 of Port St. John FL (Algoma WI), passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015.  She was born on March 17, 1938 in Marinette WI to the late Harlan E. and Marjorie E. (Brix) Pettey.  On January 14, 1957 she married Ronald E. Prudhomme in Marinette WI—her life-long love preceding her in death on October 15, 2004. She battled many illnesses and surgeries over her lifetime; earlier this year her lung cancer returned.  Instead of going through months of new treatment she chose to spend her final days being a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother.  We enjoyed these special days/months with mom—sharing favorite meals, reliving special memories, and enjoying the blessings of our family.

Pat attended school in Marinette WI in the 1950’s and then Algoma High School (75-76) where she graduated High School in 1976—along with the rest of the Class of 1976 and her life-long friend Donna Tahlier.  It took a lot of guts to attend HS in her 30’s along with the normal student population.  D.W Loos (Algoma HS Teach retired) said, “I remember her in school finishing up so she could graduate and earn a diploma. She added a bit of real class to (the) graduation and did serve as an inspiration to classmates and the entire student population.”  Through her example, we learned to never give up on our dreams—that all is possible if you are committed, determine and not afraid of what others might think—the lesson she taught serve us well in our adulthood.  She was a proprietor of the Shells Bar & Restaurant and worked at Plumbers in Algoma WI and Emerson in Sturgeon Bay.  She loved watching Green bay Packer games, fishing, and being with her family.

Survivors include her four children, Ronald (Karen) Prudhomme, Regina Prudhomme, Robert (Mary Jo) Prudhomme, and Rose Ann (Bob) McGinnis.  16 grandchildren, Jeremy (Regan) Prudhomme, Jonathan Prudhomme, Megan Bowers, William Prudhomme, Catherine Prudhomme; Sheila (Nate) Griese, Aremy (Heidi) Griese, Pamela Griese, Kara Sue Prudhomme, Josh Prudhomme, Lacy Prudhomme, Zach Vandertie, Amanda Kroening, AJ Hanson, Arron McGinnis, Evan McGinnis; and 20 Great-Grandchildren.  Two brothers Glen (Ruth) Pettey and Ronald (Mary Anne) Pettey; sister Sandra (Evertt) Gratto; sisters and brothers in-laws Shirley Prudhomme, Shirley Erdman, Sharron (Tom) Braatz, Judy (Marvin) Davidson, Debbi (Jim) Brockman , and Clinton Thornton, father in-law John (Jack) Cambray, as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her birth parents Marjorie and Harlan Pettey, two infant daughter, three sisters and one brother; Beverly Pettey, Marjorie Thornton, Margaret (Jerome) Van Eyck, Carol (David) Malcore Henry Pettey, brother in-laws Wayne Prudhomme and Ken Erdman, her father in-law and mother in-law, Earl and Kate Prudhomme.

Mom requested that she be quietly laid to rest next to her husband as Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma, without a funeral.  The family plans to hold a memorial gathering this summer (1 August 2015) in Algoma to celebrate her life. Contact Rose (morgans_grannie@yahoo.com), Gina (prugina1@yahoo.com), or Ron (prudhomr@aol.com) for details.  The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for mom during her many illnesses.

Wiesner-Massart Funeral Homes are handling arrangements. Online condolence messages may be expressed here .
