Melvin E. Kroening , 84, of Forestville, passed away peacefully at Algoma Long Term Care Unit on May 30, 2016. He was born to the late Ewald and Odile (Malcore) Kroening on May 13, 1932. He married Carol Duerst on June 23, 1983 in Kewaunee, WI. He worked for Algoma Hardwoods for many years. Melvin was a fan of all things Country Western and loved Ford cars. He enjoyed visiting with people, working in his yard, and having supper with Carol at Algoma Long Term Care.
He is survived by his wife Carol; his son Larry (Maureen) Kroening; step-children Sandy (Dave) Slagoski, Pat (Don) Moore, Roger Seiler, Debbie (Brian) Wendricks, and Mary (Rodney) Ullman; grand-daughter Amanda Kroening and significant other Keith Bliss; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grand-daughters Morgan and Cierra; 4 step-great grandchildren; one brother Orbie Kroening; and nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by one brother Alvin (Rhoda) Kroening; one sister Edna (Peter) Dellis; and one sister-in-law Lydia Kroening.
Visitation will be held at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, Casco on Thursday June 2, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday June 3, 2016 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Kolberg, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Seelman officiating.
