Lester Paape Sr. 89, Algoma passed away Sunday Feb.24, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1923 in Algoma to the late John and Matilda(Ciha) Paape. Lester seved in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Verna Hardtke and then later married Elizabeth Schneider. He was employed and later retired from the Algoma Hardwoods.
Survivors include his four children: Gary(Rita), Lester(Germaine), Marla all of Algoma, Sandra(Tom) Hoffmann of Sturgeon Bay. Grandchildren: John(Jennifer), Kim(Pat) Esselman, Scott(Rachel), Cory(Becky), Tonya(Dean) Sanner, 15 great grandchildren, Sisters: Virginia(Vern) Stone Denver, Col., Verna Clark of Algoma, Sister in laws and brother in laws: Cleda Schneider, Bernice Krueger, Louise Paplham Pionke(John), Jim(Arlene)Schneider, Linda(Lee) Erickson, Dennis(JoAnn) Schneider, Carl Waterstreet, Carol Clark, Mary Harris and Verna Ward (Gary's Mom), and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth on March 19, 1994, Brothers: John and Wilfred, sisters in law and brothers in law: Beauty Paape, Shirley Waterstreet, Patricia, Robert, Mark, Patrick, Ronald Schneider, Robert Paplham, Russ Younk Sr., Ron Clark and Dorothy Paape.
Visitation will be held at Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home, Algoma on Wed. Feb. 27, 2013 from 3-8p.m. Military service at 6p.m. and prayer service at 6:30p.m. Visitation will continue on Thurs. Feb. 28, 2013 at Algoma United Methodist Church from 10-11a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11a.m. with Pastor Robert Kuhn officiating. Full military rites will follow at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery. Online condolence messages may be expressed here .
