John Yunk

John Yunk passed away unexpectedly at home on July 14, 2012. He was born on April 23, 1951 to Phillip and Marie (Malfroid) Yunk in Algoma, WI. He worked at Peterson Shipbuilding for over 20 years, and most recently employed at WS Packaging in Algoma, WI. John served as a Lincoln Town Board Supervisor for several years.

On May 18, 1974 he married Linda Gilson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma. John is survived by his wife Linda Yunk, three daughters Norie (Christian) Idso of Duluth, MN, Nichole (Lee ) Yunk-Todd of Milwaukee, WI, and Natalia (Jason) Zweifel of Fond du lac, WI; and his dog Rocky, and all of his girl's grandpets; and his two special grandchildren Evan Idso and Jane Todd. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He is further survived by his siblings and their spouses: Jean (Harvey) Paul of Casco; Ronnie Holtz of Madison; Joyce (David) Kirchman of Algoma; June (Don) Hucek of Forestville; Jerry (Sue) Yunk of Sturgeon Bay; Joe Yunk of Kewaunee; and Julie (Randy) Jacobs of Luxemburg. Mother and Father in law Merle (Rita) Gilson of Algoma; sisters- in- law Sandy Zima of Algoma; and Karen (Tim) Johnson of Foster City, MI.

John is preceded in death by his mother and father, Phillip and Marie Yunk; sister Joan Holtz, brother Jim Yunk, and nephew Noah Johnson. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation will be held at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, 1617 Flora Ave, Algoma on Wednesday July 18, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Prayer service will be at 7.p.m on Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday July 19, 2012 at St Peter's Catholic Church, Lincoln, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Fr. Anthony Birdsall and Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating. Online condolence messages may be expressed here .
