Joan E. DeMeuse 78, of Algoma, was taken home by God, on Thursday November 14, 2013 from the Algoma Long Term Care Center. She was born on May 17, 1935 to the late Clinton and Elvira (Marquardt) Raether. On August 19, 1956 Joan married Gilbert DeMeuse at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was involved in the PTA for Lutheran Girl Pioneers. A favorite past time was gardening and spending time in her greenhouse. People knew her well for all of her greenhouse cats. Joan was also an avid reader.
Joan is survived by her husband Gilbert; her children Mark (Sherri) DeMeuse, Sharon (Steve) Rush, Matthew (Chris) DeMeuse; one daughter-in-law Lori DeMeuse; grandchildren Melissa, Abby, Anthony, Simon, Josh, Tyler, and Alex; and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her son Michael; brother Tom; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and special cousins.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma on Monday November 18, 2013 from 9 to 11 AM. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM with Pastor Tom Moldenhauer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home of Algoma is assisting the family.
