Gilbert E. DeMeuse 84, of Algoma, was taken home by God, on Wednesday February 11, 2015. He was born on September 1, 1930 to the late George and Adeline (Zirbel) DeMeuse. On August 19, 1956 Gilbert married Joan Raether at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2013.
Gilbert was a green-house owner and enjoyed gardening, dart ball, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.
Gilbert is survived by his children Mark (Sherri) DeMeuse, Sharon (Steve) Rush, Matthew (Chris) DeMeuse; one daughter-in-law Lori DeMeuse; grandchildren Melissa, Abby, Anthony, Simon, Josh, Tyler, and Alex; and two great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brother Don DeMeuse; sisters Lila Wolf, Pearl Krause, and Jane (Greg) Jennerjohn as well as, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews and special friend Judy. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife Joan; son Michael; brothers Orville, Jerry, Raymond and Lee; sisters Ethel and Ruth and in-laws.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma on Monday February 16, 2015 from 9:30 to 11 AM. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM with Pastor John Moll officiating.
