Darrell (Hoogie) Deprez, 72, Algoma, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Algoma Long Term Care, with his family by his side.
He was born November 18, 1940 in Algoma to the late Irvin and Catherine (Vandertie) Deprez. On August 7, 1976, Darrell married LaVela Moede. Darrell and LaVela were happily married for 37 years.
Darrell enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Max and Grace and their dog, Napoleon, bowling, deer hunting, and watching the Packers, Cubs and Brewers. He was a lifetime member of the Algoma Optimist Club and also was an usher at St. Mary's Church for 30 plus years. Hoogie ran his barber shop for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, LaVela; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Guy McCauley; two grandchildren, Maximus (Darrell) McCauley and Grace (Amelia) McCauley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Catherine Deprez and a twin sister, Darlene Deprez; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Mildred Moede.
Visitation will be at Wiesner-Massart Funeral Home, Algoma from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, November 13. Parish wake service 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastoral Minister, Kathy Zeman. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 9 to 11am at St. Mary's Church. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Algoma with Fr. Bill Switchtenberg officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

The family extends a special thank you to St. Vincent Hospital doctors and nurses, the staff at Algoma Long Term Care Unit, Dr. Hayes, Pastor Peter Speckhard, Fr. Bill for his prayers, and the many relatives and friends for their care and support during these trying times.
Now Darrell can spend his 73rd birthday with his twin sister, Darlene.
