Carol M. Vertz , 80, formerly of Algoma, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Kewaunee. She was born on March 19, 1937 to the late Raymond and Melva (Michaletz) Mura. On June 4, 1955 she married Lloyd Vertz at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Algoma. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2015.
Carol is survived by her children, Dan (Cindy) Vertz, Cindy (Patrick) LaLuzerne, Chris (Michael) Krueger, Debbie Pelnar, Diane (Jeff) Lischka, Mary (Jeff) Rentmeester, Joan (Rick) Alexander, and Kathy (Joel) Shemenkowski; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 on the way; sisters, Judy (Joe) Wiese and Marilyn (Ron) Pallex; sisters-in-law, Veronica Vertz and Liz Uecker; also survived by nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, son Gary, grandson, great-granddaughter, her parents, mother and father-in-law, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home Algoma, 1617 Flora Ave. on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Prayer Service will take place at 7:35 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Algoma from 9:30-11 am on Tuesday morning August 15, 2017. Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 am with Father Peter Stryker officiating.
